Mets trade C Austin Hedges (Padres) AA, Grade B+ P Aaron Crow - $300,000 (2016)
Rangers trade RF Curtis Granderson - $3,500,000 (2013)(2014 TO) LF/CF/RF Craig Gentry - $300,000 (2016) 2014 FYPD 3rd Round pick
Mets accept. Like yesterday's trade, trying to shift from rebuild to competitive mode. Hedges is a top 30 prospect, but I'm well set at Catcher with Miguel Montero/Reese McGuire/Alex Jackson on the depth chart. Granderson provides much needed offense for the next 2 months, I hope Gentry will be useful for the next 2 seasons especially if we go RF/CF/LF. Mets have 23 active players and $5.2mil in cap space before the trade.

Rangers agree.
Unfortunately, I'm out of the playoff race, and I won't be able to resign Granderson.
I was thinking of Granderson as being worth a 2nd round pick to a team in the playoff race. I figured that adding a 3rd round pick, I'd be giving solid value for Hedges, whose limited offensive ceiling is offset by the probability that he will be an MLB starter. I'd love to not have to dip into free agency once McCann's contract is up. If Hedges hits .250 with 10 home runs, I'll be happy.
With Gentry, the Mets picks up steals in a solid platoon player. With Crow, I get a decent pitcher to fill out my roster.

Not a huge fan of this trade, Granderson will be gone at the end of the year, Gentry sucks, and Hedges alone is worth way more than a 3rd round pick.
With that said it's not worth a veto.
