As mentioned in the Samardzija thread, predicting future value of starters is a real challenge. J-Zimm seems pretty close to Gallardo (9mm), Cain (10.25mm), and Lester (12mm) at the time of their re-sign. I may have offered 10 for J-Zimm but 9 is within the right window.

That's low on Jordan Zimmerman. I suggest referencing the Greinke thread from last years' resigning to frame Jordan Zimmermann's production to context of the other pitchers mentioned in that resigning offer by Phillies. Zimmermann's salary should probably fall somewhere in between Cain & Greinke.

The reason I offered that is because he's already had one TJS.

Denied (1-1)
Below, I have listed Zimmerman and 3 comparable re-signs. Using the 3 seasons prior to their re-signings, to me it looks like Zimmerman is more comparable to Matt Cain. The era's and whip's are very close. Wins a bit toward Zimmerman. K's a bit toward Cain.
Samardzija's numbers seem to be more in line with Gallardo's. Gallardo a huge edge in Wins. Samardzija's only edge seems to be last year's era and whip. That one year change for him probably the biggest reason why he got 9M.
Zimmerman, to me, just seems better "comped" with Cain. Interesting also that the first attempt on the Cain re-sign was also for 9M which was denied. So, taking these figures into account and to be fair to the owners of Cain, Gallardo and Samardzija, I think Zimmerman need to be at 10M.

Nationals - do not be discouraged, now you have a chance to try to re-sign Zimmermann again. The feedback above indicates that his salary should be at least 10mm.
