Rays propose 3 years at $8 mil per season.
Looking at prior resign history and current year market value I used 2 key points of comparison: Jeff Samardzija and Yovani Gallardo both received $9mil per season.
162 game averages= W/K/ERA/WHIP Shields (33 years old) 14/194/3.72/1.22 Gallardo (28 years) 14/196/3.69/1.30 Almost identical, but Gallardo is 5 years younger
2014 Season: Shields 14/180/3.21/1.18 Samardzija (30yrs) 7/202/2.99/1.06
Win's are tough to account for, but the other numbers favor the younger Samardzija
So, both comparison players have advantages in age and are either equal or stronger in numbers, so I feel Shields should come in at a lower annual salary than the other 2.

Approved
Just off the top of my head I wouldn't have thought I'd approve this before I saw the numbers posted. (Thanks for the numbers). I saw also that Shields now has 1910.1 career innings pitched. Just curious, I pasted the top 19 in innings pitched for active pitchers of which Shields stands at 19th. For the most part, I'm seeing health issues and ineffectiveness in those above him. With the exception of Felix Hernandez, the best I see is good not great. Also saw Shield's K rate was down to 7.1 last year. Taking all that into account, I vote yes on the 8M.

Buehrle and Felix are the only ones who haven't broken down.

I agree this is a tough one because A. he doesn't have a team yet which can impact his value IMO B. he's old. With that said I approve as well.
