2010 FYPD Picks
19)Philadelphia Phillies - Kaleb Cowart | 3B/RHP | Cook HS
20)Philadelphia Phillies (Via Mil) - Mike Foltynewicz | RHP | Minooka Communicty HS
19)Philadelphia Phillies - SKIPPED - Taylor Lindsey | SS | Desert Moutain HS (LAA)
Zackry Dodson
Max Walla
Cameron Garfield
Juan Duran
Dusty Coleman
Cole Figueroa
3) Michael Taylor Michael D. Taylor , OF, Grade B+: Borderline A-. This was a great pickup: he fits into Oakland's needs more easily than Brett Wallace. More defensive value than Carter, but a year older and doesn't have quite as much power.
4) Jaff "Commodore" Decker, OF, Grade B: If John Kruk and Matt Stairs can play in the majors, Jaff Decker can too, bad body or not..
4) Grant Desme, OF, Grade B: Strikeout rate precludes a higher grade, but he's always had good tools and put them to use last year.
9) Bobby Borchering, 3B, Grade B-: Chipper Jones couldn't hit in rookie ball either. That said, his strike zone judgment was disturbingly bad at Missoula and there are still questions about his defense. Loads of potential but I'm going to be cautious until we get more data.
10) Jason Knapp, RHP, Grade B-: High grade for a rookie ball pitcher, but I like him.
12) Keyvius Sampson, RHP, Grade C+: Impressive athlete with a lively arm, one of my favorite high school pitchers from the '09 draft.
13) Sebastian Valle, C, Grade C+: Excellent power potential and very young, but plate discipline and defense need work.
17) Logan Watkins, 2B, Grade C+: Ranked seventh on the Baseball America list. I like Watkins, but want to see how his bat plays out at higher levels. Big-time athleticism, speed with some on-base ability.
18) Ryan Berry, RHP, Grade C+: A steal in the ninth round, IF his arm doesn't fall off due to the Rice injury curse.
20) Scott Mathieson, RHP, Grade C+: Difficult to rank and grade. He's always been effective when healthy and has a great arm, but at some point he's going to run out of graftable ligaments. Could make an impact in the pen as soon as this year.
21) Leandro Castro, OF, Grade C+: Another member of the Toolsy Outfielder Who Might Not Hit Good Pitching Brigade. Could rank as high as eighth.
22) B.J. Rosenberg, RHP, Grade C+: Looks like he could be a good relief option sometime soon.
23) Cameron Coffey, LHP, Grade C: Tommy John survivor, could rank much higher once we see how he recovers from surgery. Clocked as high as 95 MPH before injury.
25) Drew Carpenter, RHP, Grade C: Control artist with mediocre stuff has nothing left to prove in the minors, but fly ball tendency might not fit well in Philly.
26) Johan Flande, LHP, Grade C: Deceptive lefty has less upside than other arms but could help sooner.
Prospect - Jeff Antigua (Cubs)
