Rangers trade
1B Adrian Gonzalez - $15,000,000 (2016) ((Re-Sign))
Mets trade
SP Cody Anderson - $300,000 (2020) SP Jason Vargas - $4,000,000 (2017) SP Brandon McCarthy - $4,000,000 (2016) SP TJ House - $300,000 (2019) SS Erisbel Arruebarrena - $1,500,000 (2017)
Mets accept. A-Gon is a 6 week rental to get me over the top in the NL East dogfight. Vargas and McCarthy included for salary cap concerns. A-Gon would be the 4th re-sign on my roster.

Rangers agree. I'm going to lose Gonzalez this season. I'm taking on 5.5 in cap space next season for the roll of the dice that Cody Anderson and/or TJ House might become a starter or a bullpen arm in the future.
Good luck, Mets.

Seems light for Adrian but something is sometimes better than nothing I assume Rangers have a couple of guys they would rather re-sign than Adrian in the next few years which seems reasonable with guys like Harper (2017) and Rendon (2018) expiring in next few years. Sometimes you have to think long-term not short-term.

I agree, at first glance it seems like a lot for a 6 week rental, but with McCarthy and Vargas for CAP space I understand the trade.

Switch them up, I don't really see the point of the trade from the Ranger point of view as all the players he's getting back are basically throw away guys. You have Cody Anderson but he's not much of anything at the moment.
