Athletics trade Chris Bostick (2b A) TEX - (drafted '11 by A's traded to TEX in '13) Billy McKinney (OF A-) OAK - (A's FYPD '13) 2015 3rd round FYPD pick
Mets trade SS J.J. Hardy - $7,500,000 (2014)
Mets accept. My main goal entering the offseason was to unload cash and rebuild prospects - this accomplishes both. Originally had Arnold Leon (AAA) in the deal, but checking the old site he was traded to Astros for Pence in 2010 - I can live without it. My shortstops are loaded for years (Reyes, Russell, Lindor, Rosario), so Hardy is expendable. He is still a top 10 shortstop who can be reasonably re-signed in a thin market so I was looking for volume in return. Billy McKinney is the prize here - a solid first round pick who crushed A ball at 18 yo. Bostick - "Midwest League sources regarded him as a significant sleeper prospect based on his performance for Beloit...He is a good overall athlete with above-average speed and more power in his bat than you'd expect" I can dig it. FYPD pick is gravy and I pushed it to 2015 out of respect to another rebuilding franchise.

The A's accept....Hardy is a good SS(Silver Slugger and Gold Glove last year), Hated giving up McKinney but you have to give something to get something.Adding Hardy makes him a re-sign possibility for the A's as we have only Cain re-signed atm.
