Resigning STL SP Mike Leake (just completed a $300,000 per year deal) to a 4 year, $8,000,000 per year deal = $32,000,000 through 2019.
I'm at work and don't have the worksheet I prepped for this but his three year average slotted in between Anibal Sanchez and James Shields who are both signed to $8M py deals. His numbers also favor comparably to Homer Bailey's three year avg of 2012-2014 and who is also signed to an $8M py deal.

I'm ok with this and you are correct with the comparables, but I would've been ok at 7 for Leake based on skills. He's younger than the usual resign but could quickly become a less effective #5 starter or long relief guy in the near future. Nonetheless the offer is not that far off.

Approval #2.
Thanks for the comps. Agreed with what the Mets said about Leake. Am thinking though his move to the Cardinals and away from the Reds ballpark will boost his value some going forward.

Thanks fellas. I thought about an initial offer of $7M but Matt Garza's $7.5M contract scared me off. And behind a strong STL team he should be good for a few more wins than he has been getting which should offset the low K total. Hopefully.
