The A's would like to re-sign Carlos Carrasco. He is a difficult case to make as his recent season and a half as a starter reflect a good k/9 of close to 9, good ratios and about a .500 record. He is 28 and yet to pass 200 innings in a season, but he shows promise. I am not sure who to compare him to, but I feel that a 5 year resign at $7M per takes into account the risk of his unproven track record v. his recent stretch of starting. The comps mentioned for Leake and Leake all have a much longer track record of success.
Original contract: Carlos Carrasco P $500,000 (2015) A's offer: 5 years at $7,000,000 Carlos Carrasco SP $7,000,000 (2020)

Approval #1.
Thanks for the info. Just looked and Carrasco has about one season and 2 months (August-September 2014) of success. Saw he began 2014 in the Indians rotation but was dropped from it after posting a 6.46 ERA in April of that year. has been great though after getting reinserted into it. Unusual also we're talking about a re-sign on a starter who has exhausted his rookie contract with only 84 career starts. Things are normally clearer at this point.

Denied (2-1)
As a huge Leake fan, there is no way that he's worth more than Carlos. Rotochamp projects Carlos to be a top 50 player next year, not pitcher!, player. The upside is crazy high with him.
Shark and Zimmerman got 9 and 10.5 last year and I know I would take Carlos now over Shark last year. Even with Zimmerman I think it's up for debate on who I would want.
Homer got 8 in 2014 and Carlos was better last year than Homer could ever dream of being.
Bump Carlos up to 9 and I'll approve, but even at 9 I think it's a little low.

After looking at it more closely I think I am going to change my vote to veto. Its not something I like to do but I sort of made my vote quickly without really looking at it as closely as I had other votes today. (1-2)

I have to agree with the Reds, Carlos isn't a SP1 but he has a lot more upside than Leake but I would approve a 9M contract. Veto 3-1
