C - Salvador Pérez - 2016 salary 300k
I used Russell Martin as my comp.
Russell resigned for 7.0 million per year last year after coming off a year (2015) better than Salvador just had and on the player rater Russell had a better year than Salvador last year (2016) as well. Russell Martin was the ninth ranked catcher overall and Salvador Pérez was the tenth.
Thus I would like to offer Salvador Pérez a 4 years 28 million dollar contract
C - Salvador Pérez - 7 Million (2017 NTC) (2020)

Deny 1 only on the basis that you posted a favorable comp but not Montero ($8) McCann ($8.5) or Mauer ($13.5). I dont think hes an upper echelon guy, but 20 hrs from your catcher is worth at least as much as Miguel montero.

So any time someone signs a horrible contract (Montero and Mauer) the rest of the league will have to pay that much too, I see no logic in that at all. AND McCann was the best of the best when he signed his contract at 8.5 and Perez as a middle of the road at 7 - you made my point for me yet denied.

The purpose of the resigning review is to establish fair market values of production with the intent that these values set a precedent for future players. The best we can do is try to apply the same rationale to players across multiple seasons and since the salary cap remains constant, so too do the values. Theres always a difference of opinion as to what is a fair value, but its through that discussion that we approach consensus.

Perez catches a lot of games. More games than most other catchers per season. I feel like he is an injury/breakdown risk and the 4 year contract off sets the small difference in $$ per season for me.
