Red Sox send: 1B Hanley Ramirez (BOS) $17,000,000 (2018) - FA signing in 2015
RP Cory Luebke (N/A) $500,000 (2018) - FA signing in 2017
2B Tzu-Wei Lin (BOS) (international minor league free agent signing by Red Sox 2012)
Blue Jays Send: SS Adeiny Hechavarria MIA 300,000 (2018) - April 13, 2010: Signed by the Toronto Blue Jays as an amateur free agent.
I accept. I don't think I'm in a position to compete this year as is, so I'm not too worried about the salary of Hanley, but a Hanley Ramirez bounce back would be more valuable then another year of Hechevarria production. However this deal for me is really about Lin, I'm a big believer and think he could be an everyday regular if given the opportunity, maybe not in Boston, but I like his peripherals. Outside of that he holds value as a Super Utility guy who can play 3 IF positions.
Trading Hech means I have no SS atm, but it only preempts the same problem I was going to have next year, and I was going to have to solve that riddle during free agency this year anyway, worse comes to worse Barretto still has SS eligibility and I can just try and sign Hech again.
Thanks to Boston for the trade and easy negotiations.

Red Sox confirm.
Hanley insists on playing DH and we have a number of guys who need to rotate through so we are doing a salary dump, again costing a prospect. It pains me greatly to trade a Red Sox player with the last name of Lin (my last name is Lin so this is the jersey that I would buy) but finally moving off of Hanley's salary is worth it.
Also, Hech serves as a placeholder SS in case I can't upgrade via free agency/trade later.
Thanks to Blue Jays as well for great negotiations.
