Mariners get: CF Billy Hamilton CIN $300K (2019) Reds get: SS Delvin Perez STL (prospect) RHP Gage Hinsz PIT (prospect) C/3B Joe DeCarlo SEA (prospect) Rationale: The Mariners are definitely all in this year and going for it. We had a good offense last year but there was definitely a glaring weakness, speed. Hamilton provides that albeit with little to nothing else. Due to this the Mariners were interested but did not want to overpay. We didn't want to give up any of our top flight prospects but in the end we decided to let go of Delvin Perez, a very interesting prospect but we are betting on Ketel Marte to get some playing time and be our SS of the future. We also included an intriguing pitcher in Gage Hinsz and a power catcher in DeCarlo to get the deal done. Reds Agree Rationale: Have a surplus of OF and emergence of Tommy Pham allow for a trade from a position of strength in the MLB roster. Was looking for a package of prospects, especially to cover INF and Pitching. Like Perez's upside for the future and see Hinsz as potential solid mid rotation guy in a couple of years. DeCarlo might not work out but willing to take the chance for a catcher with some power potential.
