A intra division trade here.
Tigers trade
C Ryan Jeffers $300,000 (2026) (acquired 8/27/20 - in trade with DBacks ) 1B/3B Gio Ueshala $13,000,000 (2024) (signed as FA 2021)
White Sox trade
SP George Kirby $300,000 (2027) (drafted by White Sox Round 1 2019) 1B Trey Mancini $13,500,000 (2026)
Tigers accept: We want George Kirby so taking on the Mancini salary and giving up a really good catcher with years of control is the price. Ueshala fills 1b/3b for White Sox for this season. Mancini - no idea what I get from this season but I get George Kirby and hopefully all my young talent offsets the salary drag of Mancini in 2025 and 2026.

I accept! This trade allows me to add a catcher which is a huge position of need I was not able to Fill in FA. I was able to help the Tigers free up some cap space and still keep a 1B on roster. So the swap in 1B works well for both. This at the expense of a good pitcher to the Tigers.

Denied 0-1
I don't see how 2 average most platoon players equal the value to one of the better young pitching arms in baseball. Even with the offloading of Mancini contract, think the deal is heavily leaning in one direction.

I hate to veto as well but George Kirby is a legit ace starting pitcher that is worth more than Ryan Jeffers. The rest is just a swap IMO.

Veto #3
George Kirby is currently somewhere in the top 10 of all starting pitchers for fantasy. That when combined with a long term rookie contract taking him through 2027 makes him immensely valuable. When I considered this deal, I based it off what I would need to deal away Spencer Strider and it would be a huge package.
Jeffers is a fun catcher bat, has some pop, and seems to be a guy that will get more run this season than he did previously. However, he doesn't approach the value that Kirby will contribute unless there's a devastating injury.
Getting rid of the Mancini deal for 2025 and 2026 absolutely has some value as well, but that could also be waived next off-season to clear 50% of the value without paying to clear it in full. If waived, he would present a 6.75% hit off the total cap of a squad and that's not a tangible enough improvement to justify this deal. See this trade (https://bigs.freeforums.net/thread/6464/brewers-braves-approved-picks-updated) for an example of what was spent in prospect capital to trade away a pretty heavy cap hit before.
I would invite the two GMs to reconvene and find another deal here if they are interested in still moving forward. As a bit of forewarning, I would consider the current trade to be about 25% of the value necessary to acquire George Kirby. If Tigers wants to consummate the deal, a significantly higher prospect cost will need to be paid.

I will certainly work to reconvene the deal and respect the league approval process but this is not a Ryan Jeffers for Kirby deal.
Ueshala will get a ton of at bats and covers two need positions for White Sox and is a real player.
Mancini seems done as a productive players so I am taking on 3 years of $13.5 million annual salary essentially as the vig to get Kirby.
It is vetoed but I think the calculation of all that dead salary was not really considered adequately.
but I will talk with Chicago about some new iterations.
appreciate the thought everyone puts into the analysis.

Eric You might think that but for an ace on a cheap deal this was pretty short on value. There is no way I would trade a guy like Grayson Rodriguez for this per say. Filling needs does not mean you should give away the best player in the deal.
